mid-week DIY facial
Wednesday, 30 November 2011 21:04

Holiday Parties are here. You may not have time on weekends for home facials, so why not a Wednesday Evening Facial?

What you’ll need:

The basics (which if you’ve been reading you have on hand. If not, Get Some!)
Rice Flour
Honey
A great skin oil (look for Borage oil or simple Olive oil)
Lavender or Geranium Essential Oil
Face Spritz
2 Wash Cloths

The extras:
Turmeric powder
Canned Pumpkin
Brewed Nightly Beauty Tea (or green tea)

First, fill a bowl with warm water, brewed Nightly Beauty Tea, and add 10 drops of essential oil. Geranium is one of the best for winter skin. Lavender is always lovely. If you’re really fancy (and know Anna Rummel), you could add some sandalwood and chamomile essential oil too.

Put a soft wash cloth in bowl, and let it soak up the goodness. Wash your skin well with favorite creamy cleanser, or get right to the goodness: Wipe skin with warm, wet towel.

Rinse towel and put it back in the water. Make a paste (right in your hand is fine) with 1 tbs (or so) of honey, and some rice flour. Enough to spread on your skin. Now spread, lots of little circles, all around. Gentle, but patiently. Rub for about 1 minute.

Use washcloth to remove product. In a little bowl, mix together:1 tbs honey, small dash of turmeric, 1 tsp canned pumpkin (or freshly cooked if you’re that good!), few drops Geranium essential oil, and few drops of brewed tea.

Mix well, and spread on your skin. Turmeric will stain a little bit, but its temporary and you’re doing this at night, right? It will definitely stain towels.

Let it nourish your skin for 5-8 minutes, while you finish your tea, file your nails, do lunges,  or read about our Body Treatment. Your choice.

Rinse well, then use new warm wash cloth to remove traces. Follow with one more honey/rice flour polish to remove any bits of turmeric. Spritz your skin, and follow with your favorite serum and a few drops of oil. You can top it off with your favorite moisturizer, but definitely use a little oil.

If you have a couple white heads here and there, and you're not obsessive compulsive, right before applying serum is a great time do do some at home extractions. To really do it right, follow these instruction: {How to Properly Extract (Not POP!) a Pimple}

Enjoy..
